What is the Friends of Dane County Parks Endowment Fund?
The Friends of Dane County Parks Endowment Fund is a permanent source of private funding managed by the Madison Community Foundation. Resources that may be donated to the Endowment include cash, stock and real estate, and are eligible for tax benefits.
The Madison Community Foundation will distribute earnings from the Endowment to benefit Dane County Parks every year to support education, interpretation and volunteer opportunities in the Dane County Park System. Distributions may not be taken in the early years of the Endowment so that it has time to grow. Madison Community Foundation will ensure that the fund distributions are used properly.
The Endowment will be used in the following ways:
The Madison Community Foundation:
The mission of the Madison Community Foundation (MCF) is to encourage, facilitate and manage long-term philanthropy. Since 1942, MCF has been connecting donors like you with causes they care about most, helping them make a positive difference now and far into the future. MCF stewards the gifts that donors provide, investing them to create earnings. Those earnings are used to support the charitable interests of fundholders and the grantmaking capacity of MCF, providing resources for the community…forever.
MCF is in compliance with the National Standards of U.S. Community Foundations, administered by the Council on Foundations, a membership organization of more than 2,000 grantmaking foundations and giving programs worldwide, affirming a commitment to financial security, transparency and accountability.

There are many ways to give to the Friends of Dane County Parks Endowment: cash, electronic funds transfer, closely held stock, mutual fund shares, publicly traded securities, and real estate.
